Mello Music Group - "Slow It Down"
Mello Music Group is one of the best indie Hip-Hop labels out there, providing constantly good releases. Not only do they stay true to Hip-Hop, but they stay true to their fans by providing vinyl pressings for many of their releases. They've released two compilation albums filled with a bunch of collabs by label members, the first being 2010's "Helpless Dreamer," and the second being last month's "Self Sacrifice." Even though I feel these releases are of the same caliber as the individual artist releases, Mello doesn't release them on wax, unfortunately. They did release a 7" single, however, which just happened to have my favorite track from the album on it, "Slow It Down," which features rhymes and production by Oddisee. On the B-side you'll find another solid track, "On Standby" by Oddisee and yU, as well as the superb "Slow It Down" instrumental (the highlight of the single, in my opinion. There's only 300 pressings of this single, which you can get at UGHH or Fatbeats (I'd go with the latter since it's $3 cheaper there).
