Aesop Rock - "Skelethon"
This album has been making buzz for some time now. It has a release date and even a single out (see below). I held off reporting on it to wait for Fifth Element to provide a pre-order. I love all of his solo work, his last album, "None Shall Pass," which was released a whole 5 years ago, being one of my favorites. In the years since, Aesop Rock has been doing some non-music projects, in addition to working on quite a few collaboration projects. He produced Felt 3 (with Murs and Slug on the mic), which is the best of the Felt series, as well as being one-third of Hail Mary Mallon for "Are You Gonna Eat That?" (a solid album). "Skelethon" is an album five years in the making, and it will be interesting to see what sort of maturation Aesop will show considering he was already one of the most mature rappers out there. He is turning into a very promising producer, as well. The artwork, if you were wondering, is by "Barcelona-based painter Aryz" and is definitely a plus. The album drops June 10, but you can get it a few days early if you order from Fifth Element: here.
